Our Mission
The Open Play Foundation NPC enables the children of Stellenbosch to discover their potential by revitalising public spaces into safe and accessible recreational platforms where the transformative power of sport, culture, and education can be harnessed through community partnerships.
Our Values
01 - Empathy: In humility, we learn, design and implement projects by engaging and listening to communities. This pursuit of information, perspectives, solutions, and partnerships optimises our capacity to deliver on our mission.
02 - Hope: Our community presence should engender a sense of hope and future readiness among our beneficiaries and their communities.
03 - Dignity: We provide infrastructure and programmes that communities can be proud of, engaging them respectfully and sincerely as full stakeholders and not as mere recipients.

05 - Partnerships: We believe a collective of passionate specialist change-makers is more effective in driving sustainable transformative change than one organisation attempting to be everything for everyone. We do not only rely on our partners to support our mission but also endeavour to increase their capacity to achieve theirs.
06 - Joint custodianship: We don’t exit projects at the handover but remain involved as joint custodians to ensure facilities are being used optimally as instruments of change.
